Sometimes, when working towards achieving a goal, you become known for something positive you weren’t initially setting out to be known for. When Albert Helcberger founded Block A Chip way back in 2003, he did so because he wanted to protect the paint of his own dream car.
That dream led to a need, which became a passion, a company, a career and a reputation. And today, we protect and preserve more Porsches than any other vehicles or brand…and it’s not even close.
We’re proud to have become the most experienced and trusted Porsche PPF studio in Ohio and beyond! From Detroit to Pittsburgh! We specialize in classic and current Porsche models while working through our flagship partner, Sewickley Porsche Car Store in Pittsburgh. The Block A Chip team has an intimate knowledge of what it takes to tackle PPF wraps and coatings of the entire Porsche model line up.
Some highlights of our Porsche work include paint protection wraps, coatings and restorations of:
Additionally, we are proud to be the preferred PPF and ceramic coating partner of the Northern Ohio Region Porsche Club of America (NORPCA), a club which we recommend joining if you live in the area!
Your Porsche isn’t just your vehicle - it’s an extension of who you are as a driver and car enthusiast. And here at Block A Chip, first and foremost, we’re car enthusiasts ourselves. We understand that education, knowledge and passion are as important to you as quality, cost and the overall business experience. That’s why for over 21 years, thousands of other Porsche owners have chosen Block A Chip and we’re confident that you will as well.

At Block A Chip, the only limitations to what we can do for you and your Porsche is what you can imagine. That’s a big responsibility for us, but one made possible by over 20 years experience in the paint protection industry. You might as well dream big, because you can!
Partnering with XPEL, the gold standard in paint protection film and ceramic coating, we have access to thousands of laser-measured PPF designs for newer Porsche models dating back several decades. Each design is crafted in 3D and transferred to the 2D plane of PPF film, which we can print in-house specifically for your vehicle. The end result is perfect panel fitment for each curve and contour of your Porsche, expertly applied by our team.
What if your Porsche is an older model? Not to worry - there are few companies in the United States with the experience and the resume of Block A Chip in the world of custom PPF installs. Our Film Studio here in Mentor is equipped to handle any custom job. Our team will work closely with you to consult and determine the best packages to meet your protection needs.
You don’t just want anyone working on such a critical component of your Porsche - you want the most experienced team around!
Inexperience while protecting these cars can lead to disaster, such as burned or cut paint, damaged clear coat, faulty safety tech operation, or worse…we know firsthand, because we often redo PPF and coatings on vehicles that were damaged by other shops. A poor-quality install can lead to thousands of dollars in repairs and paint damage.
With Block A Chip, you can rest easy knowing your 911, Cayman, Taycan, Cayenne, Panamera, or any other Porsche or vehicle is in the most capable hands. We’ll keep you informed throughout the timeline of your project, and we make ourselves available to you for questions, concerns and comments through the entire process. And when the work is done, we know you’ll be proud of the results.
Porsches at Block A Chip!
Whether your Porsche is brand new, new to you, or has been your prized possession for decades, it’s never too late to protect it’s finish. With hundreds of Porsches of every year and color under our belt, here’s our list of recommended protection areas on your car:
The highest impact zone for rock chips (particularly on sports cars like the Cayman and 911), the full front end is the best place to start your PPF project. This package includes the full front bumper, hood, fenders and side view mirrors. “You never forget your first chip,” so don’t wait to protect your Porsche!
When you get into sports car territory, rocker panel PPF wrapping is a must. With more aggressive summer tires that grip the road and toss up loose gravel, your rockers will get littered with road rash without proper protection!
This is the final piece of overall rock chip protection for the front of your Porsche. We’ve noticed over years of work that these panels get a surprising amount of rock chips, like any forward-facing body panels on your vehicle. Especially critical for SUVs like the Cayenne and Macan.
We’ve all been there: dings and scratches on our doors are the worst feeling. Your Porsche’s doors are at high risk of micro-scratching during cleaning, or more aggressive scratches and dings from people who might not care about your car as much as you do!
If it isn’t in the budget to get full door protection, wrapping the door edges and door handle cups are a great "wear & tear" add-on for your vehicle.
Most popular for folks who worry about common bumps and bruises that happen out back. Equally important for Porsche owners with a hatch or trunk, lifting items in and out. Also useful for road rash during track use.
Avoid scratching your sills when entering and exiting the car with PPF!
For the most complete overall protection package, installing a full vehicle PPF wrap is the way to go. No matter how you plan on using your Porsche, whether as a track car, weekend cruiser or a daily driver, full body PPF protection means ultimate ease of mind. Scratches, swirls, rock chips and road rash will now be something you don’t have to worry about every time your car leaves the garage! This is especially beneficial for Porsches with medium to dark paint colors.
We also have different finish options as well, so whether you want to retain that deep, glossy look or convert your Porsche to a satin look with Stealth PPF from XPEL, we’re here to help!
For a deeper sheen, ease of maintenance and durable sealing of your paint and PPF from the elements, do consider ceramic coating for your Porsche. Waxing is a thing of the past for ceramic-coated cars. Not only saving you time, but drastically reducing the need to rub and wipe the clear coat of your car, which causes micro-scratching, etching and hologramming. We apply the coating one time, and service it once a year!
Arguably the best attribute of ceramic coating is its hydrophobic qualities. Ceramic provides a slickness to your paint that not only enhances the glossy finish of your paint, but also repels water, mud, and other harmful environmental elements, making cleaning your Porsche a breeze. Expect your wash time to cut in half, and drying time as well! Your coating is also a UV protectant, drastically reducing sun wear and fading associated with it.
For the ultimate ceramic coating experience, you can also coat your wheels, calipers, exterior glass, and even your interior surfaces! We especially recommend wheel coating for anyone tired of brake dust corroding the finish of their wheels, no matter the finish. Washing wheels doesn’t have to be a nightmare.
